In the last few years, there have been a myriad of products created to cater to the needs of the blind and visually impaired. From IrisVision’s assistive VR headset to Google Maps’ enhanced audio guide, companies have leveraged technology to help people with low vision live a more functional and independent life. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the leading causes of vision impairment are refractive errors, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, clearly showing that there is a massive spectrum between 20/20 vision and total blindness.
